Delirium is an acute confusional state that is common in critically ill patients. Critical care staff need to be able to recognise and manage patients. Using a delirium assessment tool such as CAM -ICU will help with assessing the patient’s cognitive state. Please see below to download pocket sized CAM ICU card.

The training video below can be shared with new starters to critical care to demonstrate how to perform a CAM-ICU assessment on a patient in critical care.  New starters will also benefit from competing the delirium e Learning module. This will take abut 20 mins to complete with an assessment at the end but will provide useful information to nursing staff on the types of delirium and tips for managing the delirious patient
